Bas Brick Works is committed to maintaining safe working environments on all construction sites where our services are carried out. This Site Safety Statement outlines the company’s approach to ensuring the safety of workers, clients, contractors, and members of the public during masonry and brickwork activities.
Our objective is to reduce risks, prevent accidents, and ensure all work is performed in accordance with relevant health and safety legislation.
2. Compliance with Regulations
Bas Brick Works operates in accordance with applicable UK health and safety regulations, including:
- Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974
- Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM Regulations)
- Work at Height Regulations 2005
- Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations
- Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999
We aim to ensure that all work activities are carried out safely and responsibly.
3. Site Safety Responsibilities
Company Responsibilities
Bas Brick Works will:
- Ensure safe working procedures are followed
- Provide appropriate training and supervision where required
- Supply suitable tools and equipment for construction work
- Ensure workers use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Identify and manage potential hazards on site
Worker Responsibilities
All employees, subcontractors, and workers must:
- Follow all site safety rules and procedures
- Use PPE correctly at all times where required
- Operate tools and equipment safely
- Report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately
- Cooperate with safety instructions from site supervisors
4. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Appropriate PPE must be worn where necessary depending on the nature of the work being carried out.
This may include:
- Safety helmets
- High-visibility clothing
- Protective footwear
- Gloves
- Eye protection
- Dust masks or respiratory protection where required
Workers are responsible for using PPE correctly and maintaining it in good condition.
5. Working at Height
Many masonry tasks involve working at height. Where this occurs, Bas Brick Works will ensure:
- Suitable ladders, scaffolding, or access equipment are used
- Equipment is stable and properly installed
- Workers follow safe working procedures
6. Tools and Equipment
All tools and construction equipment must be:
- Suitable for the task being performed
- Maintained in safe working condition
- Used according to manufacturer guidance and safety procedures
Faulty equipment must not be used and should be reported immediately.
7. Housekeeping and Site Organisation
Maintaining a clean and organised site helps reduce accidents.
Bas Brick Works promotes:
- Safe storage of materials
- Clear walkways and access routes
- Proper disposal of waste materials
- Keeping work areas free from unnecessary hazards
8. Accident and Incident Reporting
All accidents, injuries, or near-miss incidents must be reported immediately.
Where required, incidents will be recorded and reported in accordance with RIDDOR (Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 2013).
9. Public Safety
Where work is carried out in areas accessible to the public, Bas Brick Works will take reasonable steps to minimise risks, which may include:
- Securing work areas
- Installing warning signage
- Controlling access where necessary
